A BAS (Building Automation System) is the networked control system that automatically regulates a building's mechanical, electrical and environmental services such as HVAC, ventilation and lighting. The term is largely interchangeable with BMS. In data centers it maintains temperature and humidity setpoints, sequences cooling equipment and integrates alarms over protocols like BACnet and Modbus.
