Base Isolation is a seismic protection strategy that mounts a structure on flexible bearings or sliders so the building moves largely independently of ground shaking, cutting the forces transmitted into the frame. In high-seismic regions it is used to keep data-center structures and their sensitive IT and electrical equipment operational after an earthquake, protecting both the shell and the mission-critical load it houses.
