A Core Wall is a group of shear walls forming a vertical core, often around stairs, lifts and service risers, that provides much of a building's lateral stiffness and strength. In data centers core walls stabilise multi-storey structures, enclose protected escape routes and riser shafts, and anchor the lateral load path to the foundations.
