A Transfer Slab is a thick reinforced-concrete slab that transfers loads from columns or walls above onto a different arrangement of supports below, allowing the structural grid to change between levels. In data centers transfer slabs enable large open plant or hall spaces beneath more heavily subdivided levels, carrying substantial loads across the change in grid.
