Power Density is the amount of electrical power provisioned or consumed per unit of space, expressed as kilowatts per rack, per cabinet or per square metre. It is a defining design parameter: legacy halls ran at 3–6 kW per rack, while AI and high-performance computing push racks to 40–130 kW or more, driving the shift to liquid cooling and reshaping power and floor layouts.
