A Route Server is a system at an internet exchange that collects BGP routes from participating networks and redistributes them, so each member can reach many peers through a single session instead of configuring one with every other. It greatly simplifies multilateral public peering, though members can still fall back to bilateral sessions when they want direct control over a relationship.
