Wet Stacking

Generators & Fuel Systems
Also known asWet Stacking

Wet stacking is the accumulation of unburned fuel, soot, and condensed water in the exhaust system of a diesel engine run for long periods at low load, appearing as oily residue and reducing efficiency and reliability. Data center standby generators, which idle at light load, are prone to it, so operators run periodic load-bank exercises at high load to burn off deposits and keep engines healthy.
