Storage & Virtualization

A Snapshot is a point-in-time record of the state of a volume, file system or virtual machine that allows later recovery to that moment. In data centers snapshots are created quickly with little initial overhead, usually by tracking only subsequent changes, and support fast rollback, testing and backup. They complement, rather than replace, full backups.
