A red team is a group that emulates real-world adversaries in a goal-oriented, often covert exercise to test an organization's detection and response capabilities end to end. Unlike a scoped penetration test, red teaming can combine cyber, physical, and social-engineering attacks to reach a defined objective. In data centers it stresses the full security program, revealing how well the blue team and controls withstand a determined intruder.
