A Perimeter Intrusion Detection System (PIDS) is a sensing technology that detects attempts to breach a site boundary, using fence-mounted vibration sensors, buried cables, microwave beams, or fiber-optic detection. At data center campuses it provides early warning of climbing, cutting, or crossing the perimeter, cueing cameras and guards. PIDS extends security outward from the building, giving response teams time to react before intruders reach critical assets.
