NVMe over Fabrics extends the NVMe protocol across a network so servers can access remote flash with latency close to local drives. It runs over transports such as RDMA (RoCE or InfiniBand), TCP, and Fibre Channel, carrying NVMe commands without translation overhead. In data centers it underpins disaggregated and composable storage, letting pools of NVMe be shared and reassigned across many hosts.
