Intrusion Detection is the use of sensors and monitoring to detect and alert on unauthorized physical entry or attempts to breach a secured area, using devices such as door contacts, motion detectors, glass-break sensors, and fence sensors. In data centers it provides timely alarms that trigger response and, layered with access control and CCTV, forms part of a defense-in-depth security model.
