A GEC (Green Energy Coefficient) is a sustainability metric from The Green Grid equal to the green energy consumed by a data center divided by its total energy consumption, expressed from 0 to 1. Green energy is generated from qualifying renewable sources, so a higher coefficient indicates a cleaner supply. It complements carbon metrics such as CUE and overlaps conceptually with the ISO renewable energy factor (REF).
