An EER (Energy Efficiency Ratio) is a cooling-efficiency metric equal to the cooling capacity in BTU per hour divided by the electrical power drawn in watts, at a specified rating condition. Higher EER values indicate more cooling delivered per watt, so it is used to compare CRAC units, chillers and packaged cooling. Unlike a seasonal average, EER is typically quoted at a single steady-state operating point.
