East-West Traffic is network traffic that flows between servers, services, and storage within a data center, as opposed to traffic entering or leaving it. Driven by virtualization, microservices, distributed storage, and AI training clusters, east-west volumes now dominate data center networks, which is a primary reason leaf-spine fabrics are designed to provide uniform any-to-any bandwidth.
