A Drift Limit is the maximum permitted horizontal displacement of a storey or building under lateral load, often expressed as a proportion of storey height. In data centers drift limits control sway under wind and seismic action to protect cladding, partitions, risers and equipment connections, and are a key serviceability check on the lateral stability system.
