A Copper Backbone is the balanced twisted-pair cabling that links distribution areas within a data center's structured cabling system where copper media remains practical, such as short backbone runs and out-of-band management. Built from Category 6A or higher cable, it supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet and Power over Ethernet, and complements the fibre backbone for shorter distances.
