Bypass Airflow is conditioned supply air that returns to the cooling units without passing through IT equipment, typically escaping through unsealed floor openings, gaps around cabinets or excess perforated tiles. In data centers it wastes cooling capacity and fan energy and can force lower setpoints. It is reduced with blanking panels, brush grommets, containment and correct tile placement.
