Vascular biometrics authenticates individuals by imaging the subsurface pattern of veins in a finger or palm using near-infrared light. Because the pattern is internal, it is difficult to forge or capture covertly, giving high assurance for data center access control at critical entry points. It is often used contactlessly and combined with a badge to enforce strong two-factor entry to secure areas.
