Trace Heating is an electrical heating element run along pipework and equipment, controlled by thermostats, to keep contents above a set temperature or prevent freezing. In data centers it protects exposed and rooftop pipework, fire-water mains, condensate lines and fuel systems in cold climates, ensuring cooling and life-safety water systems remain operable and avoiding freeze damage to critical distribution.
