Rock Excavation is the removal of hard rock strata that cannot be dug by conventional earthmoving plant, requiring methods such as ripping, hydraulic breaking or blasting. It is slower, costlier and higher-risk than soil excavation, and in data-center construction encountering rock can significantly affect programme, cost and the design of foundations and below-ground infrastructure.
