Rack Inlet Temperature is the temperature of the air entering the front of IT equipment, the primary reference for thermal compliance. In data centers it is measured at multiple heights on the cabinet face and compared with ASHRAE guidelines, since it, not room average, determines whether equipment is cooled adequately. It is the key metric for airflow management effectiveness.
