A Patch Panel is a passive termination panel where cables are landed on fixed ports so that connections can be made and changed with short patch cords. In data centers patch panels organize copper and fiber links in racks, cross-connects and distribution areas, improving structured cabling manageability and protecting permanent links from wear. They are rack-mounted in rack units.
