Negative Float is float below zero, indicating that an activity's scheduled dates fall later than required to meet an imposed constraint or deadline, so the schedule is behind and needs recovery. It typically arises from a fixed completion date or must-finish constraint. On data-center programmes negative float signals that acceleration, resequencing or constraint review is required to protect a committed handover date.
