A Magnetic Lock is a locking device using an electromagnet mounted on the frame and an armature plate on the door; when energized it holds the door shut with strong holding force. Being fail-safe, it releases on power loss. In data centers maglocks secure controlled doors under access control and must be interfaced with fire alarm and egress systems for safe release.
