Lag is a deliberate delay imposed on a schedule relationship, adding waiting time between the predecessor and successor, for example a Finish-to-Start link with a lag to allow concrete to cure before loading. In data-center scheduling lags represent unavoidable process delays such as curing, drying or equipment stabilization; excessive or unexplained lags are flagged in schedule quality checks.
