An Inert Gas Release is the discharge of an inert-gas suppression agent (such as IG-541 or nitrogen/argon blends) that extinguishes fire by lowering the oxygen concentration to a level that no longer supports combustion while remaining survivable. In data centers it protects IT and electrical spaces without residue, requiring room integrity and pressure-relief venting for the large gas volumes involved.
