Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) is an open, vendor-neutral data format for building information models that lets software from different vendors exchange geometry and asset data without loss. It underpins openBIM collaboration. On multi-disciplinary data-center projects IFC allows architectural, structural and MEP models from different tools to be federated and coordinated, and provides a durable model archive independent of proprietary formats.
