A Fire Rated Ceiling is a ceiling system tested to contribute fire resistance, either as part of a floor-ceiling assembly or as a barrier protecting the space above. In data centers fire-rated ceilings help maintain compartmentation over technical rooms and escape routes, and any services passing through them must be protected to keep the rating intact.
