An End-of-Row Switch (EoR) is an aggregation switch positioned at the end of a row of racks that serves the servers in that row through structured cabling. In data centers the EoR design consolidates switching into fewer, larger chassis than top-of-rack, reducing switch count at the cost of longer horizontal cable runs. It is chosen for manageability and port efficiency.
