A Prime Contractor is a contractor holding a direct contract with the owner to deliver a defined scope, and is directly responsible to the client for that work. In data centers, where delivery may be split among several prime contractors (for example separate building and fit-out contracts), each is accountable to the owner for its scope, cost and schedule.
