An Optical Circuit Switch (OCS) physically steers light from input to output fibers, often with tiny movable mirrors, forming direct optical paths without converting signals to electronics. Because it is data-rate agnostic and very low power, hyperscalers use it to reconfigure fabric topology on demand and to interconnect AI clusters, though it switches connections rather than individual packets.
