A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a standardized method, defined in ISO 14040 and 14044, for quantifying the environmental impacts of a product or system across its full life cycle from raw-material extraction through manufacture, use and disposal. In data centers it evaluates servers, cooling equipment and buildings, informing embodied-carbon reduction and product comparisons. Its results feed environmental product declarations and whole-life carbon calculations.
