An Intumescent Coating is a paint-like fire-protection material that swells into an insulating char when heated, shielding structural steel and delaying its loss of strength in a fire. In data centers intumescent coatings provide fire resistance to steel frames while keeping a relatively thin, paintable finish suited to exposed or architecturally visible steelwork.
