An Inspection Request (IR) is a formal notice a contractor raises asking the supervising engineer or client to inspect and approve completed work before it is covered up or the next stage proceeds. In data-center projects IRs at defined hold points create the quality record that verifies installations meet specification and feeds the commissioning and handover documentation.
