A fat-tree topology is a multi-tier network design in which link capacity increases toward the root so that bandwidth between any pair of endpoints stays non-blocking regardless of where they sit. Realized in data centers as a folded-Clos leaf-spine fabric, it provides many equal-cost paths and predictable bisection bandwidth. It is the dominant structure for HPC and AI clusters that need uniform, high all-to-all throughput.
