ENERGY STAR is a voluntary energy-efficiency labeling program run by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy. It certifies energy-efficient products, and through ENERGY STAR for Data Centers it rates existing facilities on a 1-100 scale based on measured energy performance relative to peers. Data center operators use it to benchmark efficiency and validate reductions in energy use intensity.
