A Decoupler is a short common pipe or bypass connecting the supply and return mains between the primary and secondary loops of a hydronic system, hydraulically separating the two so each can pump at its own flow rate. In data centers a decoupler lets constant-flow primary pumps and variable-flow secondary pumps operate independently, stabilizing chiller flow while loads vary.
