Net Zero is a state in which the greenhouse gases an organization emits are balanced by an equivalent amount removed from the atmosphere, reached primarily by deep emissions cuts across all scopes before neutralizing a small residual with high-quality removals. For data-center operators it typically requires decarbonizing electricity, addressing embodied and Scope 3 carbon, and aligning with science-based pathways rather than relying mainly on offsets.
