A Transient Response Test applies a sudden step change in load to a power or cooling source and records how voltage, frequency or temperature deviate and recover. In a data center it proves that UPS, generators and paralleling controls hold within tolerance during instantaneous load pickup or rejection, such as a generator accepting block load or a bus transfer.
